What does an Essaouira quad route actually look like?

Nearly all tours leave from the south end of Essaouira Bay and run the same celebrated terrain in different lengths: hard-packed beach at low tide, the dune fields behind Diabat, and shaded eucalyptus and mimosa forest tracks. The landmark stop is Borj El Berod — an 18th-century watchtower slowly being swallowed by sand at the river mouth, with Mogador Island on the horizon. Half-day tours push further into the big dunes toward Sidi Kaouki; two-hour rides loop tighter but still hit beach, dune and forest. When is the best time of day for quad biking?

Morning, on two counts: the light is better at Borj El Berod, and the wind hasn't picked up yet. That said, quads are the single most wind-proof activity in town — when the April–September alizé is blowing 20 knots and sunbathing is hopeless, the dunes are exactly where you want to be. Is it worth it if you've done quads elsewhere?

The Essaouira version earns its place on variety: not many places chain ocean beach, Saharan-style dunes and forest single-track inside two hours. It's also cheap by global standards — $35 with hotel transfer would barely cover paperwork at most European rental operations. If your itinerary already includes desert quad biking near Marrakech or Agadir, the differentiator here is the coastline; take a beach-heavy route.
